Hannah Labansat – Registered Occupational Therapist, OTR
Hannah graduated from Boston University with her Bachelor’s of Science in Therapeutic studies in 2015 and her Masters degree in Occupational Therapy in May 2017. She completed her Level II fieldwork placement at a Cook Children’s Hospital pediatric outpatient clinic in Spring 2016, and fell in love with practicing pediatric therapy! She is extremely passionate about the impact that occupational therapy can have on the lives of children and is looking forward to enhancing her clinical skills through pursuing certifications in NDT and Listening Therapy. She currently holds a certification in the Interactive Metronome for Pediatrics and Adults program, and has completed trainings in the Handwriting and Learning Without Tears program for handwriting. Hannah loves being a part of the Cutting Edge team and working with children of all ages to help them reach their fullest potential!

Martha Mena – Registered Occupational Therapist, OTR
Martha Mena is an occupational therapist. She attended Texas Woman’s University for both her undergraduate and graduate degrees. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Health Studies in 2013 and with her Master of Occupational Therapy in 2017. Martha has worked as an ABA therapist since 2014 and has worked with children with Autism, sensory processing disorder, and developmental delays. She is also a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association. She is certified in inTime Listening and The Listening Program (LTP). Martha has a passion for working with individuals and their families to help them achieve their goals. She is excited to start her occupational therapy career at CEPT and to work alongside other great therapists.

Amy Canizaro – Registered Occupational Therapist, OTR
Amy graduated from the University of Louisiana at Monroe in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Health Studies, and received her Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. She fell in love with pediatric therapy after working at a summer camp for children with disabilities. She completed her Level II Fieldwork rotation at the outpatient clinic of Monroe Carell, Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt in the spring of 2018, which strengthened her love for pediatric OT. After living in Louisiana all her life, Amy is excited to become a Texan and join the CEPT team!

Mahlon Ware – Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, COTA
Mahlon became a certified occupational therapy assistant in 2015, graduating from Navarro College with Cum Laude honors, where he received his Associate of Applied Science degree in Occupational therapy. He has worked in a skilled nursing facility and a sensory-based pediatric outpatient clinic. Mahlon is certified in Interactive Metronome and is in the process of completing his certification in Handwriting Without Tears. Mahlon also has aspirations of attaining credentials to become a registered occupational therapist.

Beth Ward – Physical Therapist, PT
Beth Ward has been in clinical practice in Pediatric Physical Therapy since graduating from Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois in 1970. She worked in Home Health and in an Easter Seal out-patient clinic program in Chicago before her family relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada. In Las Vegas she was the Owner/Manager of 3 Pediatric clinics that offered Speech, Occupational and Physical therapy to the families of children with a wide variety of special needs. In 2013 she moved to Texas to be closer to family and continues her work in Pediatric Physical Therapy.
Beth considers herself to be a life-time learner and has taken the opportunity to develop clinical skills in diverse areas. She has a particular interest in Cranio-sacral Therapy and has taken many other courses over the years in such areas as Yoga for the Special Needs Child and Neurobiological Approaches to treatment. Some of the most important learning along the way has come from the children and their families with whom she has been privileged to serve.

Steven Lacore – Physical Therapist, PT
Steven received his Bachelor of Science in Human Health and Performance from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. He continued his education with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy Degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, Texas in 2018. During his time at UTMB, Steven was involved in a variety of clinical rotations to include a Pediatric setting in which he worked with children with orthopedic and neurodevelopmental disorders with ages ranging from 17 days to 17 years old. Steven hopes to continue his specialization in Pediatric Therapy by obtaining his NDT certification in the future. Steven has lived in Flower Mound, Texas for most of his life and in his free time enjoys flying in a Piper Cub and playing disc golf.

Ashley Jo Winsemius-Hackney – Physical Therapy Assistant, PTA
Ashley Jo is a Physical Therapist Assistant who graduated in 2016 from Keiser University in Jacksonville, FL. Prior to her career in pediatric therapy, Ashley served in the United States Navy and traveled to many different countries during her enlistment. Ashley has worked in Pediatric Outpatient Clinics and Home Health, ages ranging from 2 months old to 20 years old and is excited to further her career in pediatrics at Cutting Edge Pediatric Therapy.

Karen Gillum – Lead Speech Language Pathologist, SLP
Karen received her Bachelor of Science in Speech Pathology in 1996, and her Masters of Science in Communication Disorders in 1998 from the University of Texas at Dallas. She has held a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) since 1999. Karen began her career in the school setting where she provided services to children with a variety of diagnoses. She left the school setting to work in pediatric home health where she provided speech, language, and feeding therapy for children in their homes. Karen has a passion for helping children reach their highest potential. She is a certified Vitalstim provider and has an extensive background in feeding and swallowing. She is also trained in the use of PECS and has experience with a variety of dynamic communication devices. Karen maintains memberships in ASHA as well as the Texas Speech-Language Hearing Association.

Heather Smith – Speech Language Pathologist, SLP
Heather received her Bachelors of Science in Speech-Language Pathology in 2016 from the University of North Texas and her Masters of Science in Communications Disorders in 2017 from Baylor University. Heather began her career in Early Childhood Intervention serving pediatric clients from birth to three years old in Johnson County. She has been working with children diagnosed with Autism for five years and has experience working with pediatric clients in a variety of settings such as home health, clinic-based and schools. Heather is dedicated to serving the families and children at Cutting Edge Therapy.

Clarissa Gonzalez – Speech Language Pathologist Assistant, SLPA
Clarissa is a Speech Language Pathologist Assistant from Mansfield, TX. She graduated from Texas Christian University with her Bachelor of Science in Speech Language Pathology in 2011. Clarissa has experience working in the home health and private practice since 2011. She is very passionate and strives to help others. She is excited to be part of the CEPT team. Clarissa, her husband, and two little girls and pug reside in Mansfield, TX.

Jenny Burgos – Registered Occupational Therapist, OTR
Jenny graduated from Hendrix College with a Bachelor’s in Psychology in 2013 and then received her Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy from Husson University in May 2017. Jenny completed her Level II fieldwork education here at Cutting Edge in the summer of 2016 and has since returned as an occupational therapist. She is a member of the Pi Theta Epsilon Occupational Therapy Honor Society as well as the American Occupational Therapy Association. Jenny is very passionate about working with children and their families and is excited to continue to enhance her clinical skills at CEPT.
Kimberly Smith – Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, COTA
Kimberly Smith is a 2017 graduate of Bossier Parish Community College Occupational Therapy Assistant Program. Kimberly had previously obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology and Health Promotion from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, LA. Kimberly discovered her passion for working wih children while growing up with a sibling who was diagnosed with Down Syndrom. She firmly believes that it takes special people to work with children and she knows this not only professionally but also personally as well. She is very elated about using her abilities to impact and brigten the lives of the children and their families.
Dawn Sims – Speech-Language Pathologist, SLP
Dawn is a pediatric Speech Language Pathologist. She graduated with her Bachelors of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Texas Woman’s University in 2004. She received her Masters of Science in Speech Language Pathology from Nova Southeastern University in 2008. She has held a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) since 2008. Dawn began her career as a SLP for Broward County Schools as well as pediatric home health therapist. She has continued to work in multiple settings providing speech, language, and feeding therapy for children. She has a passion for articulation and oral motor therapy and working toddlers. She is a certified VitalStim provider. She also has experience with The Listening Program. She has a passion for helping children grow in all areas
Nadia Costa – Speech-Language Pathologist
Nadia was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico and moved to Texas at a young age. She is a bilingual (English-Spanish) pediatric Speech Language Pathologist. She graduated with her Bachelors of Science in Speech Language Pathology from The University of Texas at Dallas in 2007. Nadia began her career as an assistant in the home health setting for 2 years prior to attending The University of North Texas and graduating with her Masters in 2011. She has held a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) since 2012 and has worked in a pediatric outpatient facility. Nadia is Hanen certified in the It Takes Two to Talk program and has a passion for giving parents the tools necessary in order to increase language learning in the home.
Nicole Sauza – Office Manager
Nicole is a Texas girl all the way! She was born in Big Spring, Texas and shortly after moved to Arlington. She resided in Arlington all throughout her academic life and later moved to Mansfield, Texas. She began working in the healthcare industry in 2009 and has worked with both adults and children. She is passionate about pediatrics and enjoys being surrounded by kids of all ages.
She loves coffee & sushi, not necessarily in that order but she does like to try all types of different cuisines. Nicole is a thrill seeker and loves riding roller coasters! She is easy to scare but will frequent haunted houses around the metroplex. She can’t dance but loves to listen to music, she can’t sing but will try her best on the karaoke machine.

Antoinette Hamilton – Office Coordinator
Antoinette has been a part of the CEPT family since the summer of 2018. As a military brat she moved from Germany to Texas in her late teens and has since called the Lone Star State home. She graduated in May 2011 from University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Language Pathology/Audiology and a minor in Psychology. She has recently transitioned from an experienced clinician assistant to an admin role to pursue in the near future, her master’s in Health Services Administration. She enjoys traveling, reading, cooking and spend time with her husband and 2 children.
