Joy Martin – OTR
Joy Martin is a pediatric occupational therapist. She received her Bachelors in Health Studies from Texas Woman’s University in 2005 and a Masters of Occupational Therapy in 2006 and is a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association. She has worked in the pediatric clinical setting since 2007 and considers children her greatest passion. Joy has specialized in Sensory-based feeding therapy, but has experience in treating children with a variety of diagnoses including but not limited to cerebral palsy, downs syndrome, autism, dysgraphia, developmental delay, and sensory integration dysfunction, intellectual disabilities and other neuralgic differences. Joy is certified in Interactive Metronome and has been trained in Sensory Integration, SOS feeding therapy, Handwriting Without Tears, social skill development, NMES electrical stimulation and NDT for infants and children. Joy currently resides in Fort Worth, Texas with her husband.
Hannah Labansat – OTR
Hannah graduated from Boston University with her Bachelor’s of Science in Therapeutic studies in 2015 and her Masters degree in Occupational Therapy in May 2017. Hannah completed her Level II fieldwork placement at a Cook Children’s Hospital pediatric outpatient clinic in Spring 2016, and fell in love with practicing pediatric therapy! She is extremely passionate about the impact that occupational therapy can have on the lives of children and is looking forward to enhancing her clinical skills through pursuing certifications in NDT and Listening Therapy. Hannah resides in Fort Worth, Texas and is excited to be a part of the Cutting Edge team of therapists.
Jenny Burgos – OTR
Jenny graduated from Hendrix College with a Bachelor’s in Psychology in 2013 and then received her Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy from Husson University in May 2017. Jenny completed her Level II fieldwork education here at Cutting Edge in the summer of 2016 and has since returned as an occupational therapist. She is a member of the Pi Theta Epsilon Occupational Therapy Honor Society as well as the American Occupational Therapy Association. Jenny is very passionate about working with children and their families and is excited to continue to enhance her clinical skills at CEPT.
Martha Mena – OTR
Martha Mena is an occupational therapist. She attended Texas Woman’s University for both her undergraduate and graduate degrees. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Health Studies in 2013 and with her Master of Occupational Therapy in 2017. Martha has worked as an ABA therapist since 2014 and has worked with children with Autism, sensory processing disorder, and developmental delays. She is also a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association. Martha has a passion for working with individuals and their families to help them achieve their goals. She is excited to start her occupational therapy career at CEPT and to work alongside other great therapists.

Mahlon Ware – Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant
Mahlon became a certified occupational therapy assistant in 2015, graduating from Navarro College with Cum Laude honors, where he received his Associate of Applied Science degree in Occupational therapy. He has worked in a skilled nursing facility and a sensory-based pediatric outpatient clinic. Mahlon is certified in Interactive Metronome and is in the process of completing his certification in Handwriting Without Tears. Mahlon also has aspirations of attaining credentials to become a registered occupational therapist.
Beth Ward – Physical Therapist
Beth Ward has been in clinical practice in Pediatric Physical Therapy since graduating from Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois in 1970. She worked in Home Health and in an Easter Seal out-patient clinic program in Chicago before her family relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada. In Las Vegas she was the Owner/Manager of 3 Pediatric clinics that offered Speech, Occupational and Physical therapy to the families of children with a wide variety of special needs. In 2013 she moved to Texas to be closer to family and continues her work in Pediatric Physical Therapy.
Beth considers herself to be a life-time learner and has taken the opportunity to develop clinical skills in diverse areas. She has a particular interest in Cranio-sacral Therapy and has taken many other courses over the years in such areas as Yoga for the Special Needs Child and Neurobiological Approaches to treatment. Some of the most important learning along the way has come from the children and their families with whom she has been privileged to serve.
Heather Alvarado – Physical Therapist
Heather is a physical therapist who graduated with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from Texas Woman’s University in 2014. She worked for a nonprofit clinic for 2 years in Wichita Falls, Texas, and it was there that she began her career treating children with disabilities, children with orthopedic conditions, and children with neurological diagnoses. Currently, she works in home health care treating a variety of pediatric diagnoses and also in an outpatient facility treating adults with neurological and vestibular diagnoses. She has a passion to be a part of a helping profession and is excited to continue serving all age groups as part of the Cutting Edge Physical Therapy Team.
Certified Speech Therapists
Karen Gillum – Lead Speech Language Pathologist
Karen received her Bachelor of Science in Speech Pathology in 1996, and her Masters of Science in Communication Disorders in 1998 from the University of Texas at Dallas. She has held a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) since 1999. Karen began her career in the school setting where she provided services to children with a variety of diagnoses. She left the school setting to work in pediatric home health where she provided speech, language, and feeding therapy for children in their homes. Karen has a passion for helping children reach their highest potential. She is a certified Vitalstim provider and has an extensive background in feeding and swallowing. She is also trained in the use of PECS and has experience with a variety of dynamic communication devices. Karen maintains memberships in ASHA as well as the Texas Speech-Language Hearing Association.
Ana L. Rothschild – Speech Language Pathologist
Ana Rothschild grew up in South Texas. She is a bilingual (English-Spanish) pediatric speech language pathologist. She graduated from Texas Woman’s University with both a Bachelor’s of Science in Communications Disorders and a Masters in Speech Language Pathology. Ana worked in the school setting with a variety of populations Pre-K through High School. She then worked in the home health care setting providing services in speech, language and feeding disorders. Ana has held her Certificate of Clinical Competence from The American Speech-Language- Hearing Association (ASHA) since 2008 and is a member of both The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and The Texas Speech-Language-Hearing Association TSHA.
Nadia Costa – Speech Language Pathologist
Nadia was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico and moved to Texas at a young age. She is a bilingual (English-Spanish) pediatric Speech Language Pathologist. She graduated with her Bachelors of Science in Speech Language Pathology from The University of Texas at Dallas in 2007. Nadia began her career as an assistant in the home health setting for 2 years prior to attending The University of North Texas and graduating with her Masters in 2011. She has held a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) since 2012 and has worked in a pediatric outpatient facility. Nadia is Hanen certified in the It Takes Two to Talk program and has a passion for giving parents the tools necessary in order to increase language learning in the home.
Dawn Sims – Speech Language Pathologist
Dawn is a pediatric Speech Language Pathologist. She graduated with her Bachelors of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Texas Woman’s University in 2004. She received her Masters of Science in Speech Language Pathology from Nova Southeastern University in 2008. She has held a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) since 2008. Dawn began her career as a SLP for Broward County Schools as well as pediatric home health therapist. She has continued to work in multiple settings providing speech, language, and feeding therapy for children. She has a passion for articulation and oral motor therapy and working toddlers. She is a certified VitalStim provider. She also has experience with The Listening Program. She has a passion for helping children grow in all areas
Speech Language Pathology Assistants
Antoinette Hamilton – Speech Language Pathologist Assistant
Antoinette is a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant from San Antonio, TX. She graduated from University of North Texas with her Bachelor of Arts in Speech Language Pathology and Audiology in 2011. She has experience working in the DFW charter schools, Dallas County Juvenile Detention Centers, home health, private practice and adult day habilitation centers. She has also catered to the special needs community for over 10 years. Being a Speech Assistant has been a rewarding and passionate experience for Antoinette, allowing her to provide the tools that empower clients to their full potential and succeed in their pursuit of life long goals. She is excited to be a part of a team like CEPT, that share the same values and care as she does.
Nicole Sauza – Office Manager
Nicole is a native Texan that was raised in Arlington, Texas. She attended the University of Texas at Arlington and specializes in Business Management. In 2009, she began working in the healthcare industry assisting with Adult Mental Health and Mental Retardation patients. A few years later she was given the opportunity to work in pediatrics supporting those in need of Speech, Occupational, and Physical Therapy. Nicole has found working with children to be very rewarding and she is grateful to those families that allow her to be part of their lives.
She currently resides in Mansfield, Texas. Growing up in the DFW area she is a huge sports fan & is loyal to her hometown teams. The Mavs, Dallas Cowboys, & Texas Rangers have a special place in her heart! She is a foodie and loves trying out different foods with friends and family. Going to the theatre is something she enjoys the most, she highly recommends seeing “The Lion King” on Broadway if you ever get the chance.

Lauren Pena – Front Office Coordinator
Lauren was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. She attended Tyler Junior College on a full soccer scholarship while specializing in Medical Office Management. During her time in Tyler, Texas she obtained a National Runner-up and a National Championship in the NJCAA Division 1 National tournament. She continued on to Northwestern Oklahoma State University on another full soccer scholarship specializing in psychology with a minor in substance abuse. For the next few years she gained experience in the Healthcare industry. Being a single mom of two, she stayed busy and on the go. Currently residing in Arlington, Texas she enjoys trying new places to eat, family time, and any type of adventures. She is excited about being apart of the CEPT team! Being surrounded by others who cares just as much as she does makes her feel at home.
