The Importance of Community For Parents of Special Needs Children
Did you know that one of the most important things you can do on this journey with your child is to form a strong community?
Kate’s Story
I am a parent like the rest of you. I have two boys with special needs, specifically autism. My journey was difficult at best, but I will tell you that one of the greatest things I ever did was talk to other parents! Talking to other parents was invaluable in terms of emotional support and resources, as well as being able to have someone there who understood, and to whom I didn’t have to explain all the details.
Our Waiting Area
Sometimes our waiting room reminds me of a resource room. We have our more experienced parents talking to our newer parents and trying to help them out. None of us want you to have the same journey we had. We want it to be easier for you!
Get Plugged In
Here at Cutting Edge, we want to help you form that supportive community. We know first hand just how important it is to have other parents you can talk to, parents who are walking the same road you’re walking, and parents who are miles ahead of you on the journey. Please keep talking to other parents in the waiting room, and stay tuned to find out all the wonderful ideas and events we have planned to support you and help you build your community!
