Documents We Need For Occupational Therapy
Happy New Year, everyone!
You may have noticed some signs posted in our office that say we’ll need your insurance card and a copy of your driver’s license when you come in.
Why We Need Updated Copies
We always ask for these things at the beginning of a new year, just to update your account. It’s important that we do this because even though you may think you have the same insurance benefits as before, something may have changed without your knowledge. We always like to be proactive for you and reverify those benefits to see if anything has changed. We don’t want you to have any surprises!
We also don’t want to end up in a situation in which you’ve underpaid or overpaid.
Verifying everything at the start of the year allows us to make sure everything is going like it’s supposed to and lets us plan for the year.
Check Your Benefits
At the beginning of every year, it’s also important to remember that you need to be an advocate for yourself in terms of your benefits. It’s important for you to check your own benefits as well. It’s important that you know your visit counts, your deductibles, your out of pocket expenses, etc. All these things will help you be a better advocate for yourself and your child all throughout the year. This also helps us if we ever have an issue with your insurance and might need to call you for help.
So be ready to let us update your insurance card and driver’s license when you come in. If you have any questions about your benefits, or about calling your insurance company to verify your benefits, let us know! We’ll be happy to help you out.
